This church lectern cover suits solemn Eucharistic celebrations and may also be used for Christmas and Easter, complementing the place where the Word of God is proclaimed. The liturgical color white symbolizes purity, holiness, joy and glory, so the piece is suitable for solemn celebrations and the major seasons of the liturgical year.
Ecru Church Lectern Cover with Eucharistic Embroidery: Chalice, Altar Bread, IHS Monogram and Vine
The central part of the decoration is an embroidered chalice with altar bread bearing the IHS monogram. This motif directly refers to the Eucharist and to Christ’s presence under the forms of bread and wine. The IHS monogram is one of the most recognizable Christological symbols and emphasizes the special significance of the Most Holy Name of Jesus.
Vine branches, leaves and clusters of grapes surround the central composition and have been part of Christian symbolism for centuries. Grapes refer to Eucharistic wine and the Blood of Christ, while the vine recalls the unity of the faithful with Christ. The gold color of the embroidery gives the whole piece a solemn and noble character, creating a beautiful contrast with the fabric’s light background.
