Handcrafted in Poland
The red ciborium veil is intended for celebrations of the Passion of the Lord and Pentecost, and is especially suited to memorials of holy martyrs.
Liturgical use of the ciborium veil
It is intended to cover with due reverence the liturgical vessel used to store the Blessed Sacrament. It is designed for liturgical use in churches, chapels, religious houses, and sacristies. The celebrations named above, together with memorials of holy martyrs, are among the occasions for which the red color is especially appropriate.
Cross symbolism and the red liturgical color
Cross: At the Passion of the Lord, the cross recalls Christ’s saving Sacrifice and stands as one of the most important symbols of the Christian faith. At Pentecost, red signifies the fire of the Holy Spirit, while in memorials of holy martyrs it signifies martyrdom. It also expresses love and Christ’s Sacrifice.
Embroidery: The rich, symmetrical embroidery depicts a stylized cross. A decorative stone adorns its central part, emphasizing the composition and providing an elegant accent to the overall design. This ornamental form gives the veil a solemn, dignified character.
Round form, gold ornament, and dimensions
The round form allows the fabric to fall softly and evenly around the ciborium, creating an elegant covering for the liturgical vessel. Made from decorative red fabric with gold ornamentation, the veil features gold ornaments across its entire surface that harmonize with the embroidery. The lower edge is finished with subtle gold decoration.
The carefully made veil combines the symbolism of the cross with a rich, solemn form, expressing reverence for the Blessed Sacrament and the dignity of the ciborium intended to hold consecrated altar bread.
